Abstract

533,711. Moulding sliding-clasp fasteners; casting machines. GRANT, H. B., and LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd. Aug. 14, 1939, No. 23460. Addition to 517,876. [Class 87 (ii)]. The mould parts comprise a rotary drum 2 and a flexible band 5 interposed between the drum and the feed nozzle 11 which is extended to embrace and apply pressure to the band and drum while the material solidified. Mould cavities may be formed either in the drum or band, or both, and the mould and band are kept in alignment by pins 7 on the drum engaging corresponding teeth in the band. The tape is fed and the stringer is withdrawn between the band and drum. When the desired length of stringer has been obtained, the flow of material is interrupted by a cut-off 13.
