Abstract

539,207. Sliding clasp fasteners. CROWN FASTENER CORPORATION. March 23, 1940, No. 5379. Convention date, March 31, 1939. [Class 44] In a sliding clasp fastener the edge of the stringer tape 10 is provided with one or two loose cords 11 on one or both sides, secured thereto solely by the fastener elements 12. The cords have wires or rayon &c. strands spirally wound thereon, and may be seated in depressions in the sides of the tape. A strand of fine cotton &c. may also be attached to the edge of the tape. Apparatus for making the fastener comprises a two-part disc 24, 24a through which the tape and cords are intermittently fed while metal is fed to the die by a nozzle 21.
