609,272. Electric lighting fittings. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. March 11, 1946, No. 7474. Convention date, March 14, 1945. [Classes 75(ii) and 75(iv)] A lighting fitting comprises a screen 13 adapted to transmit or reflect light rays from a source 2, and a reflector 1 formed with figurations 6 such as depressions, each figuration forming an image of the light source and having an area of at most 1/500 of the area of the reflector opening 5. In a plane parallel to the opening 5 and situated at distance a below it equal to twice the diameter of the opening, the average surface area of the light spots formed by the depressions is at least 1/10 of the area of the opening 5, and preferably 75 per cent of the light flux reflected by the reflector 1 falls within a circle in this plane having a radius b equal to two and a half times the diameter of the opening 5. Preferably the radius of a depression is greater in axial section than in horizontal section. The screen 13 may be translucent and diffusing or may be reflecting to direct rays partly through an upper opening 4 and partly onto the reflector 1. The reflector may consist of thin reflecting material applied to a support of moulded fibrous material. Specification 457,199 is referred to.
