Abstract
608,876. Regulating fluid flow. DIRECTIE VAN DE STAATSMIJNEN IN LIMBURG. Nov. 29, 1945, No. 32285. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1943. [Class 135] [Also in Group XVII] Apparatus for dividing a liquid and regulating the proportions thereof comprises two compartments commuiicating with: each other below the liquid level, each compartment being provided with an overflow outlet and with an inlet for compressed air or the like for regulating the pressure in that compartment, and one of the compartments being provided with an inlet for the liquid. The apparatus shown which is used for maintaining the specific gravity of a suspension or solution constant comprises a bath 1 for the solution which is supplied continuously at 2, and dipping tubes 12, 13, which are connected to a source of compressed air and to the compartments of a liquid-dividing apparatus 6, the compartments having overflow outlets 18, 19, respectively, and correcting liquid being supplied to the dividing apparatus from a tank 16, the apparatus being so arranged that as the specific gravity of the bath solution changes, the pressures in the compartments also change and the correcting liquid either flows by way of the overflow 18 to the bath 1 or by way of the overflow 19 to re-circulate when the specific gravity of the bath liquid is respectively greater or less than the desired specific gravity, or flows over at each overflow partly to the bath and partly to re-circulate when the specific gravity of the bath liquid has again reached that desired.
