Abstract

608,684. Radio signalling. FERRANTI, Ltd., WHITEHEAD, J. R., and WOOD, H. Feb. 27, 1946, No. 6101. [Class 40 (v)] In a super - regenerative responder, interference with a nearby radar, set is prevented by deriving a control voltage in response to a timing impulse from a radar set and applying it to paralyse simultaneously the super - regenerative receiving valve or a separate quench oscillator valve, a subsequent amplifier valve and a detector valve in order to render the responder inoperative during the operative period of the radar set. Fig. 1 shows a responder of the type described in Specification 601,574. An additional diode 63 produces a separate pulse for application to the anode of detector 18 and the control grid of amplifier 23. The manner in which the quench oscillator may be suppressed is described in Specification 608,739. A modified arrangement of valve 48 shown in Fig. 3 dispenses with battery CB, the bias being produced by the additional current through resistor 50 due to resistor 72.
