[Classes 103 (iv) and 103 (vi)] [Also in Group XXX] A rail truck for transporting loads such as prefabricated buildings comprises two side channels 10, Figs. 3, 4, connected by end plates 11, plates 35 being welded to the channels to carry the wheel axles 36. Two stirrups 13 connect the side channels and support a plate 22 which carries the base of a hydraulic lift 21, one such lift being arranged at each end of the truck, the upper end of the lift being spigotted into a platform 18 whose side members 16, 17 carry longitudinally arranged rollers 25 which facilitate unloading in a direction transverse of the rails. A pump is provided in the base of the lift 21 and is operated by a hand lever 28 and bell-crank 27 and the pressure is released by turning a handle 33. A separate pumping handle 30 and release handle 33 is provided for the other hydraulic lift. In a modification, Fig. 7, the chassis of the truck comprises a single inverted channel which forms a guide for the sides 52 of the platform 51. The platform is raised and lowered by a screw 55 having an enlarged end 54 contacting with a thrust washer 53 on the platform, the screw being rotated by a ratchet connected to the squared end 57 of the screw and rollers 58 on the platform support a sliding table 61. The table may be limited in its transverse movement by studs 62 and the table may be locked in its central position by a latch 65 engaging a slot in the table. In a further modification, Fig. 8, the chassis 70 is mounted at each end on a bogie 77 by a king-pin 82 secured to a transverse member 81 which can rock in the side frames of the bogie. The platform 72 has depending flanges 73 which are guided in the flanges of the chassis 70.
