Abstract
608,098. Stocks; fixing bristles. PROUDLOVE, N. Feb. 15, 1946, No. 4776. [Class 19] A cornice or hearth brush which may also be applicable as a window brush, bath brush, &c., comprises bristles held between twisted wires which extend the length of a stock and are then bent over at one or both ends into substantially circular shape with their extreme ends entering transverse bores in the back of the stock. In Fig. 1, the twisted wires have their extreme ends sprung into the transverse bores 3 in the stock 1 and the wires may be secured by a pin 10 or by adhesive or cement in addition to being a good fit in the bore. A bore 6<SP>1</SP> may be provided in the stock to receive a handle. In Fig. 3, the .brush has a handle 7 integral with the stock 1<SP>1</SP>. One end of the twisted wires enter the bore 3 in the stock while the other extreme ends are secured by a metal ferrule 8 which is pressed round the handle and wires. The ferrule may be held in position by a screw or nail 9 passing therethrough and into the handle or by a depression punched therein to enter the handle. According to the Provisional Specification, two or more twisted wires may be used and their ends may also be bent into substantially semicircular shape.
