Abstract
608,029. Moulding inserts into plastic articles. TINNERMAN PRODUCTS, Inc. Jan. 30, 1945, No. 31206/47. Convention date, March 20, 1944. Divided out of 607,957, [Group XXV]. [Class 87(ii)] Relates to moulding an insert into a non- metallic article and consists in supporting the insert on a core in suspended position in relation to the mould cavity, filling the intervening space with mouldable material and after moulding withdrawing the cores to leave the insert embedded in the moulded article. The insertion is described with reference to the production of the bolting device described in Specification 607,957. The insert 20 comprises a U-shaped strip of metal having teeth 15, that are to project into a hole in the finished article and which slide into grooves 40 in the core 35 that is carried by the upper mould part 30. The space 36 in the lower mould part is filled with material such as a thermosetting resin and the core and insert are forced in during the closing of the mould. Holes 27 in the insert permit passage of the resin, and the insert is further secured by a bent over lug 29.
