[Class 135] A manually-actuated piston valve for an ash ejector comprises a cylindrical casing having longitudinally spaced outlets b ... e connected to ash ejector nozzles, a pressure indicator connection f and an inlet a controlled, by a stop valve g. The valve g controls the flow of pressure water to a hollow piston h having circumferential ports i, which coact with the outlets, and holes p in its crown to admit pressure water above the piston and reduce the effort required to operate the valve. A link m pivoted at one end to a lug on the casing is pivoted at its other end to a hand-lever k connected to a rod j which bears upon the piston and is provided with a spring-catch n for engagement with notches on a plate o on the casing. In operation, the opening of the valve g permits pressure water to move the piston to the top of the casing to close the outlets to the ash ejector and open the pressure indicator connection f. The lever k is then moved downwards against the water pressure to close, the indicator connection and successively connect the ejector nozzles with the pressure water.
