Abstract

[Classes 36 and 38 (i)] The body and cover of an electric conduit or junction box are provided with resilient walls so that the cover may be sprung into position. In the closed position, the parts are also positively retained by interengaging indents formed in the walls of the body and cover. Fig. 7 shows a junction box comprising a body 48 having a cover 46 which is sprung on to the body against the resiliency of the walls of the parts and is retained in position by indents 18, 20. Each part may be plain or corrugated. The junction box or conduit may be T-shaped or in the form of a bend, the cover being shaped to fit within the top or a side of the body. In a further arrangement, the box may comprise a flat rectangular body having a similarly shaped cover; or a two-way box having rectangular openings of different sizes may be formed from a body and cover suitably shaped, Figs. 17 and 18 (not shown). The indents 18, 20 may extend linearly as shown or they may be of arcuate or circular form. Plates 130 may be secured to the body, the ends 132 being upwardly bent so that conduits may be secured between the ends 132 and the body by screws crossing through holes 134.
