Abstract
605,919. Automatic exchange switches. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd., and LESLIE, J. D. Feb. 22, 1946, No. 5635. [Class 40 (iv)] In a selector switch contacts of two kinds, e.g. as shown in a 180- degree arc comprising outlet contacts 3 and feeder contacts 2, are arranged in alternate arcs and a wiper is so constructed that it always connects two contacts of different kinds, e.g. by having 4 tips situated 90 degrees apart. The two feeder arcs 2 may be replaced by a single continuous 90-degree arc on one side of the bank, Fig. 2 (not shown). Alternatively an arc of total length 120 degrees may be used, contacts of different kinds occupying alternate arcs of 20 degrees and a 6-arm wiper being used. The feeder contacts may be a continuous arcuate strip as described above or a set of commoned individual contacts. The Provisional Specification states that in the latter case the feeder contacts may alternate with the outlet contacts, and also that if a switch such as one of those shown in the drawing is to be restored by moving the wipers in a reverse direction to that of the selecting movement, the wipers need have two arms only.
