Abstract

605,503. Reinforced, concrete. ROBINSON, W. P. Dec. 27, 1945, No. 34938. [Class 20(iv)] A reinforcement for concrete structures comprises a metal strip 10 having transverse slits extending alternately to one edge and the other, which, on being expanded form a zig-zag member as shown with the unslit edge portions 12, 12a extending vertically. These portions are provided with means, e.g. bayonet slots 13. whereby reinforcing rods 14 may be connected thereto, and the unslit portions 12 are longer than the portions 12a and may be bent to form supporting feet 15. In making a reinforced concrete road, a number of reinforcements 10 are placed on the ground at spaced intervals with upper and lower rods 14. These rods are connected by transverse ties which support further longitudinal upper and lower reinforcing rods to which transverse reinforcing rods are wired. According to the Provisional Specification the strips 10 may extend in two directions.
