Abstract
605,322. Making hollow-ware. WEBBER, R. A. Feb. 8, 1945, No. 3203. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Groups XI and XVII] In a double-bottomed cooking vessel, kettle or glue-pot, uniform contact with a flat electric heating-element 6 is ensured by downwardly dishing the bottom 2 of.the inner vessel 1 to concave form during an initial stage of the manufacture to prevent upward dishing during subsequent stages. In addition, the bottom 4 of the outer vessel 3 may be dished upwardly, or a separate upwardly dished insert may be used, so that when the inner vessel is pressed into the outer, the bottoms 2, 4 flatten out and a perfectly flat planar contact is secured between the inner vessel and the element. The vessels may be pressed or drawn from sheet stock, the dishing being effected either at the final drawing- stage or progressively through two or more stages.
