Abstract

603,161. Spinning mules. TAINE, R. April 11, 1945, No. 9029. Convention date, April 10, 1943. [Class 120(ii)] A drawing system, preferably for a mule of the woollen or "condenser" type, of the kind having two pairs of drafting rollers and in which the second pair includes means for intermittently releasing the nip of the rollers on the roving so that twist may run back from the spindle point to the drafting area, has a notched regulating bar to control the feed and twist of the roving. In the preferred embodiment, an upper roller 6' is grooved to nip the roving 3 intermittently. The rollers 6, 6' may, alternatively, be separated by cams, or other means. at suitable intervals. The notched regulating bar 7 is placed near to the rollers 6, 6' in the drafting area; it may be oscillated to regulate the degree of twist running back and reciprocated to guide the slubbing away from the grooves in the roller 6<SP>1</SP> during the backing-off and winding-on periods.
