Abstract

603,149. Pasting machines for paper. THOMAS. A. June 17, 1944, No. 11583. [Class 140] In a machine for pasting wall paper of the type comprising a frame surmounted by a table, a support for a roll of unpasted paper and by a paste box with a pasting roller therein; the paste applying roller has an uneven resilient surface including recesses and the pressure roller is held against the paste roller by variable spring pressure to vary the amount of paste applied. As shown the pressure roller 5 is freely rotatable on a shaft 6, the ends of which move in slots in the walls 1, 2 of the paste trough and is held against the resilient pasting roller 4 by springs 15. The roller 5 is preferably shorter than roller 4 and may be driven there by through gearing 17, 18. In the modification shown in Fig. 2 the pasting roller is wound with a resilient cord 19. The coating of paste may be smoothed by engagement with a rod and squeeges may be provided to remove paste from the edges of the paper.
