Abstract
602,562. Condenser charging circuits. TRIGGS, W. W. (Farnsworth Television & Radio Corporation). Oct. 31, 1945, No. 28958. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv)] In an arrangement for producing a D.C. voltage from a pulse source, a voltage multiplier has its high voltage terminals connected across a plurality of impedances in series, and an intermediate terminal coupled through a filter network to the pulse source and to the junction of two of the impedances. A positive pulse is generated at the anode of blocking oscillator 11 when the valve is cut off by regenerative action, and charges capacitor 22 through diode 26. When the pulse ceases, diode 26 is cut off and the potential at the cathode of diode 29 swings negative by an amount substantially equal to the pulse amplitude. Capacitor 22 discharges through the relatively low resistor 21 between pulses and filter 23, 25 smooths the output at terminal 24. Diode 29 conducts during the negative swing at the cathode to charge capacitor 27 to the peak level of capacitor 22 and since resistor 19 is relatively high, the potential at terminal 28 remains substantially at this level.
