[Class 60] An abrasive disc device comprises a backing plate and an abrasive disc one of which is formed with slots and the other having means adapted to be received in said slots, the construction and arrangement being such that said disc may be attached to said backing plate by relative rotation thereof. A metal back. ing plate 10, bolted to the flange of a driving shaft, is provided with a plurality of slots 12 enlarged at one end 13 for the reception of heads 14 of studs 15 attached to nuts 16, which nuts together with flanges 17 are moulded into an abrasive disc 11. Washers 22 around the stems of the studs 15 are pressed onto the edges of the slots 13 by springs 23, which edges are cut to form inclined tapered portions 24. To attach the disc 11 to the plate 10 the studs 15 are inserted through the large ends 13 of the slots 12 and the disc is then turned to move the studs to engage the narrow ends 34 of the slots. The disc may be locked in position by a lock screw 32 extending through the outer circumferential edge 31 of the backing plate. The backing plate may be reversed so that for mounting the abrasive disc is turned in the reverse direction.
