Abstract

Sheet or web materials are spliced by overlapping them, locating a layer of a bonding agent composed wholly or mainly of polymerized vinylidene chloride adjacent one of the layers, and applying heat. The bonding agent may be a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and vinyl chloride. Stabilization may be by pyridene, picoline, quinoline, nicotine, allyl sulphide, 2-methallyl disulphide, esters of acotinic acid such as tri-ethyl acotinate, tripyridyl and heterocyclic nitrogen compounds wherein the ring includes at least one double bonded nitrogen atom conjugated with a double bond not within the ring of the general formula <FORM:0602429/IV(a)/1> wherein -N=C< is included in the heterocyclic ring and wherein X is carbon or nitrogen and Y is carbon, nitrogen or oxygen.
