Abstract

602,305. X-ray tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 12, 1943, No. 18829. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1942. [Class 39 (i)] The target of an X-ray generator for diffraction analysis is.made of pure electrolytic copper, treated so as to provide a grain structure perpendicular to the target surface. The treatment consists in rolling a bar of the copper along its length and cutting off sections transversely. The whole surface of the anode may be formed of this material, but preferably the target consists of a button 33, Fig. 3, secured by a copper and silver solder 35 in a pocket 31 of the anode which may be formed of other material such as vacuum melted copper. The button 33 may be backed by a disc of material in which the grain structure extends cross-wise to prevent seepage of the solder to the target surface in operation. The generator tube has a casing or sleeve 25, Fig. 1 (not shown), provided with openings in line with the raytransmitting windows. Specification 602,306 is referred to,
