Abstract

601,570. Vibration detectors. NAPIER & SON, Ltd., D., and KNOX, L. H. B. Dec. 10, 1945, No. 33328. [Class 40 (iv)] A vibration detector of magnetostrictive type comprises a body 11 which can be secured to the member under test, a core of magnetostrictive material 13 forming a permanent magnet and rigidly secured at one end to body 11, and a coil 21. The coil may be mounted on core 13 or, as shown, on a surrounding sheath 10. The latter construction permits loading sleeves 23 to be applied to the end of core 13 to vary the period of its resonant vibration.
