Abstract
In a process for the manufacture of a mosaic screen the material which is to form mutually insulated conducting elements is deposited on to an insulated carrier through a stencil which is held in contact with the carrier by electrostatic or magnetic force during the deposition. A mosaic of antimony or bismuth may be deposited on a carrier plate within a sealed and evacuated cathode ray television tube through a mesh of fine silver, nickel or aluminium wire attached at one edge to a rod. An electric potential is set up between the mesh and the carrier plate by which the former is pulled into close contact with the latter. After deposition is complete the electric potential is removed and the mesh may be rolled up on the rod and removed through a previously sealed side tube. Magnetic force may be used if the mesh is made from magnetic material. Alloys of antimony and bismuth with palladium, rhenium, platinum, iridium and osmium may also be deposited and the elements activated to photo sensitivity by subjecting them to the action of an alkali metal.
