Abstract
600,409. Condensers. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. (Du Pont de Nemours & Co., E. I.). Nov. 29, 1944, No. 23786. [Class 37] Alternate layers of powdered silver 8 and of powdered vitreous dielectric material 9 are applied, preferably as suspensions in a liquid organic vehicle, to a glass or ceramic base 7, each layer of silver and of dielectric being fired on to the underlying structure before applying the next layer. The base 7 may be a sheet, block, tube or rod of glass, porcelain or steatite and the firing operation preferably lasts 15 minutes at 575‹ C. The liquid vehicle suitably comprises a turpentine or pine oil base incorporating a binder such as ethyl cellulose or hydrogenated. resin. The silver may be applied in the form of a paste by the squeegee stencil process, and the vitreous enamel may be applied by spraying. Examples of suitable vitreous compositions are those given in Specification 596,792, [Group XXIII]. An outer casing 11 of wax or lacquer prevents adsorption or absorption of moisture. Specification 574,574 also is referred to.
