600,232. Litters ; sledges. CULLINAN, J. M., and McLAREN, G. Nov. 16, 1945, No. 30855. [Class 108 (i)] A litter or stretcher comprises a fabric base 1, 2, Fig. 3, sewn longitudinally along seams 3 to provide pockets alternately filled with wooden slats 4 and kapok or cotton wool padding 5. An endless flexible wire rope 6 is sewn around the fabric edges with gaps 7 made in the sides of the fabric for handles 8. The fabric may be drawn around an occupant and the sides fastened together by straps 9, 10. Additional straps 12, 12a, 12b, 12c are inserted through loops in a longitudinal strip of canvas 11 for strapping around various parts of the body and a loop 13 and strap device 14 secures the ankles and feet arches. Steel runners 16, Fig 4 (not shown), enables the litter to be dragged along the ground by a rope attached to loops 16a on the wire rope 6, these loops may also be used for the insertion of a steel bar for carrying purposes.
