Abstract

599,934. Radio receiving apparatus. LORD, W. E. Aug. 25, 1945, No. 21851. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group VIII] The top, front and bottom of a cabinet for radio receiving apparatus consist of a veneered steel or aluminium sheet bent to the required shape (see Group VIII) and provided with apertures for the tuning indicator scale and for the shafts for tuning knobs. The side panels may be moulded from moulding powder or machined from synthetic resin bonded sheet material, slots being provided to receive the edges of the veneered metal sheet which are secured by adhesive. Alternatively, the edges of the metal sheet may be bent inwardly to form lugs to which the side panels are screwed or riveted. Screw-threaded metal inserts may be provided in the side panels for this purpose. As a further alternative, the side panels may be pressed or die cast from metal such as aluminium and may be secured to the veneered metal sheet by spot-welding, screwing or riveting. The cabinet may be lined with pulp board or cork composition.
