Abstract
599,573. Holders for safety razor blades. GOLDSTON, C. D. Sept. 19, 1945, No. 24165. [Classes 60 and 61 (i)] A holder for the blades of safety razors and the like comprises a blade carrier in the form of a clip-like element which is adapted to embrace one longitudinal edge portion of a blade and to hold the same and a separate handle element which is formed at one end with a longitudinally extending slot adapted to receive and hold the carrier so that the operative edge of the blade carried thereby will be parallel to the longitudinal axis of said handle element which latter is also provided with means at the opposite end thereof adapted to support the carrier so that the operative edge of the blade will extend transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis of said handle element. A hollow handle 10 has at one end a longitudinal slot 11 and at the other end a, transversely slotted portion 12 having a pair of jaws 13, 14 and a locking screw 15. A double-edged blade is placed in a resilient clip 17 (which may have projections 19 to engage the holes in the blade) which is received in an outer clip 16. For use as a scraper, cutter, &c., the clips are inserted in the transverse slot. For stripping or sharpening or for use as a knife, cutter, &c., the clips are inserted in the longitudinal slot. For single-edged blades having a backing or reinforcing strip the clip 16 is used without the clip 17.
