598,945. Casting composite articles. BIRMINGHAM ALUMINIUM CASTING (1903) CO., Ltd., and BERRY, J. W. March 28, 1946, No. 9667. [Class 83 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In making a fall pipe a preformed tube 10, e.g. an extruded aluminium tube, has a socket 11 with attachment lugs cast on one end. The socket may be keyed to the pipe by the provision of ribs, grooves, or slots 19, 20 at the end of the pipe. The socket may have annular reinforcing ribs 14, 15. The lugs 17 are connected to the socket by parallel tangential webs having ribs 18 on their inner faces, the lugs 17 being cranked from the webs.
