Abstract
Organo-silicon compounds of the general formula RnSiHCl3-n, where R represents a hydrocarbon radicle and n is 1 or 2, are prepared by reacting silicochloroform with a compound of the general formula RMgX where R has the above significance and X represents a halogen atom, preferably in the ratio of one molecular proportion of silicochloroform to about one or more than two molecular proportions of the compound RMgX. The products may be hydrolysed to silicols of the general formular RSni(OH)4-n, where n has the above significance, which may be converted to resinous silicones, for example, by heating. In examples (1) to (6), ethyldichloro-, diethylchloro-, phenyldichloro-, diphenylchloro-, benzyldichloro- and dibenzylchlorosilicanes are prepared by reacting silicochloroform dissolved in ether with ethylmagnesium bromide, phenylmagnesium bromide and benzylmagnesium chloride, and (7) methyldichlorosilicane is prepared by reacting methylmagnesium chloride with silicochloroform in n-butyl ether.
