Abstract
598,136. Spectacle frames. POLDEN, R. E., and TANNER, V. V. Aug. 31, 1945, Nos. 22414/45 and 6360/46. [Class 97 (i)] Non-metallic frames have hinge elements integral with the front hingedly engaging corresponding elements integral with the sides. The side 1, lug 3 and hinge spigots 4 are moulded in one piece and the frame 6 has moulded thereto lugs 5 having holes 5a to accommodate the spigots. The lugs 5 may be inclined as shown, final engagement being effected by softening the thermoplastic material of the lugs and rotating them into engagement with the spigots. One only of the lugs may be so treated. Alternatively, the holes 5a may be formed coaxial and the side spigots sprung into position. Metal reinforcement may be incorporated in the front, the sides or the hinge elements. The lugs carrying the spigots may be adhered to the side arms so as to be integral therewith.
