Abstract

596,020. Flexible couplings. ALLWOOD, F. F. July 13, 1945, No. 17996. [Class 80(ii)] In a flexible coupling between two metal discs 12, 13 comprising a rubber ring 11 of the same external diameter bonded to the discs, and having recesses 14 for accommodating the heads of the bolts connecting the coupling to the driving and driven members, additional recesses 16 are formed in the walls of the recesses 14 to obviate fatigue failure commencing at these recesses. The recesses 16 may be extended over the whole of the periphery of the rubber ring.
