Abstract

595,994. Stud fastenings. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT Ltd., and TYRRELL. A. N. July 13, 1945, No. 17885. [Class 44] A detachable fastener for securing a detachable member to a base or other support, described particularly for use with a routing machine, comprises two parts ; a tapered stud 1 secured to the support and passing through a hole in the detachable member, and having diametrically opposed shoulders 9 formed by filed flats 8 in the tapered part ; a metal clip of substantially cruciform shape, with an aperture in its base for the stud and having two opposed -arms 10 bent upwards and inwards to form spring tongues which engage beneath the shoulders 9 to secure both the clip and the detachable member. The two other arms are bent up to form lugs 11 by which the clip may be gripped, and rotated through a right angle to move the tongues out of engagement with the shoulders so that the clip and detachable member can be removed from the stud. A washer 12 is arranged in the aperture in the base of the clip. The stud may be removably attached to the support by means of two flat hooks 13. Fig. 3, rigid with the stud and engaging beneath the heads of screws 14 in support when the stud is rotated. Grooves may replace the shoulders on the stud. The washer may be omitted and the clip formed with downwardly projecting spring tongues or ridges.
