Abstract

A coating composition applied to a film of a carboxylic acid ester of cellulose or an ether of cellulose comprises (in percentages of the weight of the composition constituting the coating) cyclised rubber 50-95, wax 1-12, resin 1-30, and anti-oxidant 1-5, dissolved in a volatile solvent as a solution of 5-30 per cent. solid content by weight. In a specific example 100 parts by weight of cyclised rubber, 10 parts paraffin wax, 10 parts gum dammar, 2 parts p-hydroxy-(benzylaniline) are dissolved in 600 parts of toluene. Other suitable solvents are benzene, xylene, aromatic naphthas; natural waxes such as ceresin or montan can replace the paraffin wax. Another specified anti-oxidant is tetra-ethyl-diamino-diphenylmethane.
