Abstract
595,424. Tubular heat-exchange apparatus. WATWILLS, C. Feb. 23, 1945, No. 4654. [Class 64 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A tubular heater or cooler for fluids comprises a plurality of tubes 5 mounted between top and bottom headers 4, each header having a cross member 9, and a cover plate 11 held down by a screw 10 or bolt and nut screwed into or projecting from the cross member, the cross-members in opposite headers being set at right angles to one another to facilitate internal cleaning of the tubes, and the tubes being passed through a plate or plates 12 which can be moved up and down, e.g., by a handle 13, to remove any deposits on the outside of the tubes. The crossmembers may be provided with holes for access to the ends of tubes across which they pass.
