Abstract
592,973. Pressure-resisting covers. POUNDER, G. S. Jan. 24, 1944, No. 1328. [Class 123 (i)] An inspection or like opening 3 in a drum 2 is provided with a seating ring 5 welded at 12, 13 to the inner surface of the drum and machined on its face 7 to form a seating for the 'cover. The cover 4 carried by a hinged arm 8 is retained by bridge pieces 17 and bolts 16. The cover is also provided with a ring 20 welded to its periphery, and having an annular portion 24 fitting within the ring 5. The cover may have strengthening ribs 25, 26, at right angles, welded to it. In a modification, Fig..4, not shown, the drum wall and the cover may both be flat, and the welded ring on the periphery of the cover may be omitted.
