Abstract

Alkali metal soaps of fatty acids are stabilized against discoloration and rancidity by adding a biguanide salt of p-tertiary amylphenyl phosphoric acid. Amounts of 0.01-0.2 per cent. based on the weight of the soap, are specified.ALSO:p-Tertiary amylphenyl phosphoric acids are prepared by esterifying p-tertiary amylphenol with phosphorus pentoxide, and either the mono- or di-ester prepared in this way is used to form a salt with biguanide itself or with a hydrocarbon-substituted biguanide such as mono - phenylbiguanide or mono - diphenylbiguanide.
