Abstract

591,790. Sparking preventing in switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Oct. 25, 1944, No. 20710. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1943. [Class 38 (v)] The migration of material from one contact to the other of a pair of oscillating contacts 1 in a direct current circuit, is prevented by generating an alternating current through the contacts. This is done by connecting the contact-pair in parallel with a condenser 2, connecting an air-cored inductance 3 in series with condenser and contacts, and shunting a second condenser 4 across the contacts, inductance, and condenser 2. An oscillating circuit is thus provided, the characteristics of which can be regulated by varying the inductance and condensers.
