[Classes 132 (i) and 132 (ii)] Models of horses, cars &c. which may be of sufficient size to carry a passenger, are connected to cords 22 adapted to be wound on to drums A....G, each having irregular or stepped surfaces 17, 18, 19, by means of guides H....N which are irregularly spaced on a longitudinally adjustable bar 23, the driving shaft 7 on which the drums are mounted having an intentional or accidental longitudinal movement during rotation whereby the cords are wound on to the drums at varying and unpredicted speeds. The apparatus is mounted in a box 2, 3, 4, 5 having an opening in the side 3 for the passage of the cords. The drums are loosely mounted on the shaft 7 and are held frictionally thereon by springs 21 abutting washers 20. One end of the shaft screws into a sleeve 10 which is rotatable in the side 5, the sleeve being rotated relatively to the shaft to vary the compression of the springs 21 at the commencement of each race. The shaft is rotatable by a handle 12 or by a motor and is given a longitudinal motion between stops 15, 14 either by cams or when rotating the handle. The guides H....N are irregularly spaced and/or inclined to the bar 23 which may be moved longitudinally by a nut 25 and screwed bolt 24 between stops 27 to vary the gap through which the cord passes and thereby the lead of the cord on the drum.
