591,409. Weighing-apparatus. WILLIAMSON, W. F. Oct. 27, 1944, No. 20986. [Class 143] [Also in Group XXX] A flowmeter for grain &c. consists of a pivoted hopper b with an outlet d which is obstructed by a screen e. The outlet is opened, against the action of a spring f, by the weight of grain passing through the hopper, the extent of opening being such that the outflow balances the inflow. The extent of opening, which is a measure of the rate of flow, is indicated by a pointer h. The pointer reading is independent of the strength of the spring. In a modification the spring is replaced by a counterweight.
