Abstract
590,341. Heating by electromagnetic induction. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd., and GALE, R. E. Nov. 1, 1944, No. 21351. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group II] The high frequency inductor comprises several superposed elements 1, 3 embracing the work, each element having in at least one surface of abutment with an adjacent element a channel 2 extending lengthwise of the element so that when the elements are superposed, a duct for quenching fluid is formed. Each element is parallel-sided, and a channel may be formed in one face only of the abutting faces, which may be spaced apart by insulating layers 5, 6 serving to seal the edges of the channel except where emergence of quenching fluid is required. The elements may be rings forming a multi-turn inductor. Each ring may be in halves hinged or otherwise secured together. Specification 435,343 is referred to.
