Abstract

590,019. Flash-light-lamp apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 9, 1945, No. 8726. Convention date, April 12, 1944. [Class 9 (ii)] Multiple flash-lamp apparatus, suitable for photography, for emitting a number of flashes of light in rapid succession, comprises a reflector 10, having an opening in its sides so that flash lamps may be moved through it transversely of its axis, mounted on a battery box 14 on which is a slide 16 for guiding a lamp-holding strip 17 carrying a plurality of flash lamps 13, a pair of contacts being carried by the box 14 for engagement with the contacts of the lamp at the reflector focus. The strip 17 may be moved by a pinion 24 engaging with teeth on its edge, or by hand. A spring pawl engages with a series of notches in the edge of the strip to hold each lamp in turn in position at the reflector focus. The contacts are connected to a battery through a switch mounted on the box 14 and other flash lamps may be connected to the same switch and battery through terminals provided on the box. The lamps may be held in the strip 17 by set screws or the strip may be made of spring metal having folded edges to clamp the lamp bases. A clamp may be provided for attaching the device to a camera.
