Abstract

586,905. Boxes. MORRIS, L. S. Dec. 11, 1944, No. 24813. [Class 18] A box or carton of the kind comprising an outer container with an inner enclosure for the article to be packed consisting of separate supporting means and shock-absorbing devices, has end supports with slots formed therein to receive the spindle or projecting end parts of an electric generator or other machine, and consisting of channel members spaced from the ends of the box by separately formed spacing or buffer members secured to them, and held in place by a shock-absorbing or buffer member located at each side of the box and wedged between the end supports. As shown, a waterproof wrapping g is first inserted in the carton a, followed by a lower member c consisting of a sheet to which two supports c' of corrugated cardboard are attached. The channel shaped. end supports d have slots d<1> and are spaced from the ends of the box by buffer members d<2>. Members formed of sheets of cardboard folded to form one or more hollow rectangular sections e<1> are wedged between the members d. The packing is completed by an upper member which may be similar to the lower one after which the waterproof liner is folded over and the lid or cover placed in position.
