Abstract

586,260. Regulating. HOBSON (AIRCRAFT & MOTOR) COMPONENTS, Ltd., H. M., and GREENLAND, L. S. Feb. 7, 1945, No. 3092. [Classes 7 (iii) and 7 (vi)] A restricted flow vent 43 is provided between the eye of a centrifugal impeller 37 and a point in the conduit on the downstream side of a metering orifice 25 in a fuel supply system of the type in which fuel under pressure is fed through a conduit including a metering orifice 25 and in which the pressure difference across the orifice is maintained proportional to the square of the engine speed by means of a centrifugal impeller 37 co-operating with a .diaphragm 39 actuating a pressure regulating valve 40. A spring 50, adjustable by a screw 51, maintains the fuel pressure on the impeller side of the diaphragm 39 slightly greater than on the other side to establish a small fuel flow through a vent hole 43 allowing air collecting at the, eye of the impeller to escape. The device may be used for the supply of an anti-detonant, e.g., methanol. Specifications 419,113, 566,323, 586,259, and 586,261 are referred to.
