Abstract
585,585. Cathode - ray tubes. MERTON, SIR T. R. March 16, 1944, No. 4970. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube is provided with a screen formed of two or more materials, one of which exhibits short duration luminescence upon electron bombardment and another of which is excited to long duration luminescence by the first luminescence. The first material may be calcium tungstate and the second zinc sulphide. The latter may. be embedded in a layer of sodium silicate varnish and the calcium tungstate. is then dusted on the surface or the two substances may be applied to opposite sides of a mica sheet. Alternatively, the two may be mixed together before being formed into a screen.
