Abstract

Aqueous dispersions of solid finely-divided polyvinylidene chloride or of a water-insoluble, solid, finely-divided interpolymer of vinylidene chloride with one or more ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable compounds, in which vinylidene chloride is present in preponderating amount, are used for the filling of leather (see Group VIII). The interpolymers may comprise an acrylic or methacrylic acid or a saponifiable derivative thereof, vinyl chloride or butadiene. The dispersion may be applied in conjunction with leather - treating solutions containing chrome sulphate powder, common salt and sodium bicarbonate.
