Abstract

584,079. Castors. HEILBRONN, L. Nov. 21, 1944, Nos. 23137 and 25188. [Class 52 (i)] A castor comprises a small leading wheel 4 mounted in front of a main castor wheel 2 such that the projection downwardly of the latter is greater than that of the leading wheel 4, with both wheels swingable about the axis of the castor pintle 28. A small trailer wheel 14 may also be mounted behind the castor wheel 2. The wheels may be provided with tyres 12 or with an endless flexible track 6 of a round, V- section or U-section shape reinforced with cord, canvas, braided wire or the like. The tread of the track may be serrated and the wheels may be relatively separable to provide tautening means for the endless track According to the Provisional Specification the castor wheel 2 may be toothed to engage a similarly toothed inner surface of the endless track or the adjacent wheels may be respectively flanged or grooved so that they interengage with one another.
