Abstract

583,700. Forks. CRANFORD MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and CLARKE, W. Nov. 18, 1944, No. 22930. [Class 136 (iii)] - In a crown bracket to which the fork tubes and steering head tube of the front fork of a cycle are connected and which comprises an outer casing 5 of sheet metal pressing reinforced by an insertion piece 1 formed from a sheet metal blank from the centre of which a tubular boss 2 is formed, the sides of the blank are raised to form flanges 3 on diametrically opposite sides of the boss 2, and the ends 4 of the blank are raised against the ends of the flanges to form the inner side walls of the fork tube sockets. The insertion piece is held in place by tongues 7 pressed inwardly from the casing 5.
