[Class 20 (i)] A collapsable framework for tents and like portable structures comprises two or more foldable roof trusses, uprights for supporting the trusses and longitudinal members connecting adjacent upright supports, the various members being connected in a substantially rigid manner by means of pins and apertures provided in or on them. Additional ridge longitudinals may connect the apices of adjacent trusses. Fig. 1 shows a framework having two trusses each of which comprises two stays 1, 1<1> pivotally connected at their upper ends to the upper end of a guide 2 on which slides a collar 4 pivotally connected to the inner ends of two struts 6, 7 the other ends of which are pivoted to an intermediate part of the stays 1, 1<1>. The truss may be folded into a small space (Fig. 2), the collar 4 sliding up the guide 2. The outer ends of the stays 1, 1<1> are formed with tubular end portions 10, 10<1> which are vertical when the truss is extended, and which receive the pins 19 formed on the ends of the uprights 12, 12', the tubular end portions resting on shoulders formed at the junction of the pins 19 with the main part of the uprights. Three small oblong plates 11, 11', 16 are welded to the tubular end portions 10, 10<1> and to the apex of each truss in a symmetrical position in a plane perpendicular to that of the truss, the plates 11, 11' being formed with three holes the centre ones of which are coaxial with the apertured end portions 10, 10<1> of the trusses, and the plate 16 being formed with a central pin 17 and two holes one on each side of the pin. The longitudinals 18, 18', 18", are formed at their extremities with transverse pins 20 and holes 21, 22 and are connected to the uprights and trusses by engaging the pins 20 in one of the holes in the plates 11, 11', 16 and the holes 21 over the pins 19 or 17. The framework may be extended with more trusses and uprights, connected by longitudinals (shown dotted in Fig. 1), whose pins 20 pass through the unengaged holes in the adjacent longitudinals and the plates 11, 11<1>, 16, and whose holes 21 fit over the pins 19, 17, The ends of the uprights may be shaped as shown to enter the ground a short distance, and tie ropes 25 may be provided if desired, to assist in fastening down the structure. The erected framework may be covered by canvas provided with apertures to receive the projecting ends of the pins 17, 19.
