583,197. Tobacco pipes. STIEGER, P. J. June 27, 1944, No. 12206. [Class 130] In a tobacco pipe in which the smoke in its flow from the bowl to the mouthpiece is cooled by the outer air, an extension 14 on the mouthpiece 13 terminates in the barrel 10 at a relatively great distance from the bowl 17 and the smoke passages 25 in the mouthpiece terminate in tubular extensions 26 which project into the barrel 10, the smoke in the barrel being cooled by air flowing through a passage 29. The passage 29 comprises a tube secured in the bowl end of the barrel by a plug 15 through which the tube is open to the outer air and inserted at its inner end in the extension 14 of the mouthpiece where it communicates with a transverse air passage 30.
