Abstract

582,597. Fish heading machines. GENERAL SEAFOODS CORPORATION. July 5, 1944, No. 12834: Convention date, July 10, 1943. [Class 28 (ii)] Fish are positioned by hand on a loading platform 2 at the most economical angle for beheading by a disc knife 22, the loading platform 2 having an inclined vertical guide wall 3 against which the fish body is located, the mouth being placed against a stop 7 and the .eye being located directly under an overhung eye indicator pin 6. The distances between the mouth and the eye is said to be fairly constant. notwithstanding differences in the length of the fish (redfish). Upstanding sharp toothed pushers 10 on conveyer chains then emerge through slots in 3 and 2 and convey each fish to the rotating knife 22 which beheads the fish and where deflectors 25 guide the head and body parts which are then conveyed to separate discharge chutes 26. Rail 21 supports the conveyer chains to prevent sag on the upper run.
