Abstract
581,929. Weighing-apparatus. HONEGGER. W. Nov. 23, 1943, Nos. 19572 and 19573. Convention dates, Oct. 24, 1942, and Sept. 14, 1943. [Class 143] In a weighing balance, the load carrier is supported by balls or rollers on inclined bearer surfaces, the load being counterbalanced by a roller device which is caused to roll up inclined guide surfaces, parallel to the bearer surfaces, by the movement of the load carrier, springy metal tapes being wound on the roller device as it moves up the guides. As shown in Fig. 1, the pan support 1<1> rests upon balls 5 situated between inclined surfaces 3 and rails 4. A load on the pan causes the balls to roll down the inclines, and an arm 8 rigid with the pan support pulls upon a steel band thereby causing a roller 13 to travel up a pair of inclines 14 and winding upon itself steel tapes 17. A rack 19 connected to the roller by a steel band actuates the indicating pointers 23, 27. Stops 7 limit the movements of the pan support. In a modification, the movements of the pan support are transmitted by means of segments, roller, and rack connected by steel bands. This arrangement avoids out-of-level error. In an embodiment shown in Fig. 5, the depression of the load carrier 1<1> causes a roller 83 to move up an incline 82, the movement being transmitted to an indicator 88 by mechanism 87. The indicator may carry a magnifying glass 89. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification shown in Fig. 4 (Cancelled) in which the pan support rests on transverse spindles 36, 37, undesirable movement being prevented by steel bands 39. The load is counter-balanced by a weight 46 or by a poise weight on an arm carried by the spindle 36. The load may be counter-balanced by a weight suspended from a disc carried by the spindle 36. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
