481,334. Spring balances. INJECTA AKT.-GES. April 5, 1937, No. 9653. Convention date, April 7, 1936. [Class 143] In a spring balance having a scale pan carrier 4 supported by two springs 5, 5', and a rack 10 pivotally attached to the carrier for operating the load indicator, the pivot 11 of the rack is horizontally adjustable to permit of change in the effective length of the path of the rack. The scale pan carrier is guided vertically by two pairs of links 8, 8<1> and 9, 9<1> situated in planes perpendicular to each other and is supported pivotally on a cross-bar 4<11> suspended from the weighing springs. The pivoted rack 10 is carried by a slide 12 adjustable on the carrier 4, and engages an indicator pinion 16. Adjustment of the slide 12, by changing the inclination of the rack 10, varies the range of movement of the indicator and compensates for differences of spring tension when effecting replacements. The spindle of the pinion terminates in a conical or flat dial registering with a fixed index. The upper end of the spring 5<1> is supported on a lever 7 movable by a screw 21 for zero adjustment. The whole of the mechanism is carried by a support 2 attached to the casing. The mechanism may be locked during transport by moving an arm 22 into engagement with a slot in the pan carrier.
